Kerala: Woman kills her three-month-old baby in Malappuram

MUMBAI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing former minister and senior NCP leader Praful Patel for helping late drug smuggler and Dawood Ibrahim 's associate Iqbal Mirchi in money laundering.

Sources said that Patel had redeveloped Ceejay House in 2005 that was originally owned by Mirchi allegedly.

Mirchi was an accused in 1993 Mumbai serial blasts and died in London in 2013.

Sources stated that Patel purchased the land form Mirchi. He constructed commercial buildings on the plot. The ED officials said that they were examining the evidences to establish the payment method adopted in the deal.

Meanwhile, the NCP completely denied the allegations by issuing a press note on behalf of Patel. The party stated that Patel family bought the property, on which Ceejay House had been constructed, from the Maharaja of Gwalior in the year 1963.

The note added, “This property was with court receiver from 1978 to 2005 due to dispute among co-owners. During this period there was an illegal occupant in the premises behind the then building. Ceejay House is not owned by any individuals being mentioned in the news report. All documents and court orders are available on record.”
