SC to Pronounce Judgment on CJI Being Under RTI Act

The Supreme Court will, on Wednesday 13 November, pronounce the judgement on the case whether office of the Chief Justice of India comes under the purview of the transparency law, Right to Information (RTI) Act or not.

2 Killed, 12 Injured as Tractor Falls Into Gorge in Badaun

Two women were killed and 12 others injured when the tractor trolley they were travelling on fell into a gorge after being hit by a speeding bus in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district, police said on Tuesday.

According to Superintendent of Police (City) Jitendra Kumar Srivastava, the accident took place on Monday night at around 11 pm on a bypass on the Bisauli road.

Traffic Resumes on Jammu-Srinagar Highway

Traffic on the strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway resumed on Tuesday after remaining suspended for nearly two days following a massive landslide at Ramban district, officials said.

However, despite undertaking a major operation to clear the snow, the traffic on the Mughal Road, which connects the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region with south Kashmir's Shopian district, remained closed for the seventh day, they said.

Seven Killed in Road Accident in Bikaner

Seven persons were killed and several others injured when a mini bus and a jeep collided head-on in the district on Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident occurred near Palana village.

Most of the victims were occupants of the jeep and were on their way to Bikaner from Churu.

15 Killed, 40 Injured as Two Trains Collide in Bangladesh

At least 15 people were killed and 40 others were injured as two trains collided in Bangladesh, reported Reuters. According to the news agency, rescuers are battling to pull passengers from the wreckage.

One train was headed towards Chittagong and the other was on its way to Dhaka when the accident occurred. The cause of the incident is not yet known, but the government has ordered an investigation into the matter.

Boeing Says 737 Max Expected to Resume Flying in January

Boeing on Monday said it expects the 737 MAX airplane, which was grounded after two crashes killed 346 people, to resume flying in January, delaying its return by one month.

In a statement, the group said it still hopes to receive certification next month from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), allowing it to resume MAX deliveries to airline customers before the end of the year.

“In parallel, we are working towards final validation of the updated training requirements, which must occur before the MAX returns to commercial service, and which we now expect to begin in January,” Boeing said.

It had originally planned for the model to resume flying in December.

Bolivian Troops to Join Police in Seeking Calm

The head of Bolivia's military says that following reports police have been overtaxed by weeks of unrest, the armed forces will now provide help in keeping order.

Gen. Williams Kaliman said Monday night the joint police-military force will seek to "avoid bloodshed" and he called on Bolivians to help restore peace.

The announcement came as supporters and opponents of former President Evo Morales clashed in Bolivia's streets. Morales resigned Sunday after weeks of protests over a disputed presidential election.
