Liquor, cash seized in Dakshina Kannada

MANGALURU: Surveillance teams of the Election Commission of India in Dakshina Kannada district have seized Rs 8.72 lakh in cash and illegal liquor valued at Rs 62.9 lakh till date.

In less than 10 days, Dakshina Kannada district has registered about 9 cases related to model code of conduct violations. Sasikanth Senthil S, DC, said out of 9 complaints, seven have been disposed of and two are pending.

Apart from it, two first information reports have been filed related to poll expenditure. He elaborated that most MCC violation cases are related to pamphlets and speeches. Out of Rs 8.72 lakh seized, officials have returned the cash, except for Rs 20,000.
