Lucknow: Traders take pledge to boycott Chinese items

LUCKNOW: Several local traders associations on Monday pledged not to sell electric items, including lights, imported from China this Diwali.

Uttar Pradesh Aadarsh Vyapar Mandal (UPAVM) and Confederation of All-India Traders (CAIT) held a protest against Chinese products on Monday. Sanjay Gupta, general secretary, UPAVM, said, “Rakhis were not imported from China this Rakshabandhan which not only boosted local business, but also caused China an economic loss of approx Rs 100 crore.

We are firm on causing further economic dent to China and make India self-reliant.”

UPAVM is further planning to boycott Chinese lights and other goods during Diwali. According to them, substitutes for these products are available in the market which are locally manufactured.
