Ludhiana rural police arrests couple with 40kg poppy husk

LUDHIANA: Sadar Jagraon police arrested a couple after it recovered 40 kilograms of Poppy husk from their possession on Saturday evening. The accused were identified as 45-year-old Jasmail Singh of Abbupura and his wife Harjit Kaur (31).

Police officials said that police received information about the accused persons peddling the poppy husk consignment and set up a check post at village Chowkiman.

They added that police party stopped the motorcycle they were riding on and recovered the consignment from them.

Police said that the accused were booked under NDPS act and were arrested.

Police officials said that during preliminary investigation it came to fore that the accused had brought the consignment from Moga and were to supply the same in villages around Chowkiman area.
