Ludhiana: Three held for drug smuggling; 1.5kg heroin recovered

LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana range of Special Task Force, has recovered about 1.5kg heroin from three accused, including a woman, from Daba area on Sunday.


The arrested accused have been identified as Kamal Kumar, 25 of Lohara Colony, Daba, Gurbinder Singh, 19 of Ferozepur and Sneha alias Brinda, 34 of Azad Nagar, Daba area.

The trio was arrested with 1kg 530gm heroin when they were travelling in a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga car.

Inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge STF Ludhiana range, said that the accused Kamal is an electrician and is into drug peddling for past three years. While Gurbinder runs a tea stall in Ferozepur and started drug peddling six months ago. Both accused are also drug addict.

The inspector added that the arrested woman is married. Earlier her husband was also into drug peddling, however, he quit it sometime back but Sneha remained involved in drug supply. She has been involved in drug smuggling for more than four years.

Inspector Harbans added, “The trio gets heroin from Sneha’s cousin Mani of Nakodar , who delivers them the drug in Ludhiana. Sneha’s other relatives are also involved in drug peddling. Kamal was also lodged in Jail and came out on bail a few months ago. The car recovered by STF is owned by the accused woman.”
