Man held with 2.3g opium in Panchkula court

PANCHKULA: A man was caught with opium at the entrance of Panchkula district court premises on Thursday. A case has been registered in this regard.


Narender Pal, constable and security guard posted at Panchula court complex, Sector 1, said while conducting checks at the main entrance of the court, a person who was entering the premises at around 2.40pm was found carrying some plastic bag in his shirt's pocket underneath his sweater.

On checking, they found 2.31g opium wrapped in a black coloured polybag in his pocket. He was later identified as Avinash Dogra, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Jalandhar. Cops booked him under section 18-61-85 of the Narcotic Drug Psychotropic Substances Act in Sector 5 police station. Investigation officer ASI Narinder Singh said, "We have registered a case."
