Man murdered by friends in argument over juice sharing in Sonipat, accused arrested

CHANDIGARH: Rakesh Kumar , a worker of liquor vend was brutally murdered by his friends following the arguments over sharing juice. Rakesh was found murdered in a makeshift tent near vend in Kudli police station of Sonipat on Monday morning.


Sonipat police have arrested the victim's friends namely Deepanshu and Sunny, both residents of Sonipat.

Police on Wednesday claimed to have recovered a glass jar and a weapon allegedly used for the murder.

Sonipat police spokesman said that both the accused are currently lodged in the police custody.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused as well as the victim were in their late 20s. Accused were nursing some grudge against Rakesh over some issue. They all had decided to meet to sort out the issues.

On Sunday night, Deepanshu and Sunny met Rakesh. All three along with the liquor vend contractor Kashmir Chand met at the juice bar.

Initially, Kashmir had joined them but he had left the place and he found Rakesh dead in the tent on next morning. Kashmir Chand informed Rakesh’s younger brother Pawan Kumar, who formally lodged the complaint.

"During investigations we could find that all three were together and Rakesh was murdered during late night hours. All three were apparently drunk. Accused have confessed to the crime. We have recovered the weapon and material used by the two. Meanwhile, crime experts too have confirmed the involvement of Deepanshu and Sunny as their finger prints have matched,’’ said the police spokesperson.
