Man severs son-in-law's leg in Odisha's Boudh

Boudh: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly severed his son-in-law’s leg with an axe in Kantamal area of Odisha’s Boudh district, today.

According to reports, Saurabh Dandia and Jyotsna Mahalik had tied the nuptial knot and their marriage was being opposed by Sashi Mahalik, father of Jyotsna.

While Saurabh was returning home today after dropping Jyotsna near Dunguriguda Anganwadi centre, Sashi launched a murderous attack on his son-in-law.

He severed Saurabh’s leg with an axe leaving the victim critically injured.

Saurabh was rushed to the Subarnapur hospital and later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla as his condition deteriorated. “We have registered a case on the basis of a complaint lodged by the father of the victim. Investigation is underway and efforts are on to apprehend the accused, who absconded after the incident,” a police official said.
