Meghalaya count at 1,179 as 37 more test +ve

SHILLONG: Meghalaya recorded 37 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the state’s count to 1,179. Of these, 517 have recovered to date, leaving 656 active cases. To date, six people have succumbed to the virus.

Director of health services Dr Aman War said of the 37 new cases, 23 are from East Khasi Hills district (12 civilians, 9 BSF personnel and 2 Armed Forces personnel).

Ten BSF personnel in the West Garo Hills and one person each in the South Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, Ri-Bhoi and East Jaintia Hills were also detected with the coronavirus on Wednesday.

“Seven persons, including three from East Khasi Hills, two from West Khasi Hills and one each from East Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi district recovered today,” an official of the health department said.
