Mettur dam water level rises 11 feet in 24 hours

SALEM: The water level in the Stanley Reservoir , the lifeline of delta districts of Tamil Nadu , went up by 11 feet in 24 hours.

While the water level at the Mettur dam was at 75.83 feet on Sunday morning, it reached 86.91 feet on Monday morning.

“The Water level has been increasing steadily and will cross the 100 feet if the inflow is maintained for the next few days,” said a PWD official.



Karnataka released water from Kabini and Krishnaraja Sagar dams (KRS) after both the dams started getting water due to heavy rain.

The Karnataka government has directed PWD officials to release 1.50 lakh cusecs of water from both the dams till Saturday.
