MP: 2 pythons rescued in Alirajpur & Mandsaur

INDORE: In two separate incidents reported in Alirajpur and Mandsaur, forest department rescued two 10-feet pythons and released them in nearby jungles.

In tribal-dominated Alirajpur district , residents around a fortnight ago had caught a 12-feet long python while a python was recently caught in a cage, which was placed to catch rabbits.

On Thursday morning, a villager of Malvai village under Alirajpur district raised an alert after spotting a python in the compound of his house.

A snake catcher reached the spot and used a stick and gunny bag to catch the 10-feet python.

The snake, which was weighing around 22kg, was very agile. It tried to bite the snake-catcher but the expert managed to dodge it. He immediately grabbed the python with the help of the stick and put it in a gunny bag. The snake catcher later released the python in a nearby jungle.

Some villagers of Khakhari village in Mandsaur spotted a python in farmland while some livestock were grazing nearby. They approached forest department, who in turn, sent a team of experts. With the help of local farmers, the team rescued the python and released it in wildlife sanctuary near Gandhi Sagar Dam .

According to experts, snakes generally tend to come out due to water filling up their burrows, while some species come out perilously close to human habitats, often in search of food. Due to monsoon, chances of coming across a snake in human locality increase manifold .
