MP: NSA invoked against trader for selling spurious ghee in Khargone

INDORE: The Khargone district magistrate in Madhya Pradesh's Indore division has invoked the National Security Act ( NSA ) against a trader for operating a factory producing adulterated ghee.

Khargone DM Gopalchandra Daad has booked Hardik Mahajan under NSA and sent him to jail for three months.

The action came after samples of ghee collected from Mahajan’s Khandwa-road based firm Hardik Trading Company were found spurious during tests.

The food department had raided the firm on July 27.

State health minister Tulsi Silavat had recently announced strict action against such practice. “Those who adulterate food products should leave Madhya Pradesh or be ready to go behind bars,” he said.

He said people were becoming victims of diseases like cancer due to adulteration.

On July 19, the government had launched a drive against milk adulteration and manufacturing of products using adulterated milk.
