MP: Over 600 rescued in Agar Malwa; district receives 174.6mm rains in 24 hours

INDORE: Over 600 persons were rescued from Soyat Nagar area of Agar Malwa district after water flooded the locality forcing people to perch on rooftops to save themselves on Saturday.

The incessant rainfall has led to swollen rivers leading water into residential areas of Agar Malwa district, which received over 174.6mm rainfall in last 24 hours.



District collector Sanjay Kumar and SP Sunita Sohane are touring the affected areas, issuing necessary instructions to offer relief to people.

Official sources said around 600 people have been rescued from Soyat Nagar and brought to safety. Flood water inundated the entire colony, covering first storey of buildings. People sat on their rooftops awaiting rescue and relief.

Schools have been converted into relief centres and the administration is making arrangements for food.
