Muzaffarnagar: 17-year-old girl gang-raped, filmed and threatened; 3 arrested

Muzaffarnagar: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by five men in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district. The shameful incident happened on Sunday. The girl’s brother lodged a complaint with the police. In his complaint, he claimed that the accused sexually assaulted his sister when she had gone to the fields to collect fodder for the cattle.

To the minor’s apathy, the accused recorded the shameful act and threatened to make the video public if she narrated the matter to anyone. The incident happened in Muzaffarnagar's Phulat village under Ratenpuri police station. Station House Officer Kamal Singh Chouhan confirmed to news agency PTI that three accused have been held and the police are looking for the other two.

Recently, on March 8, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by four youths in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district. The minor was sexually assaulted in a field at gunpoint. In another incident, a minor girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by armed men in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district on National Highway 91.

Such crimes against women have often been reported from Uttar Pradesh and the law and order machinery is having a tough time in curbing these heinous crimes.

On February 23, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly thrown off the terrace of her house when she resisted a rape attempt by a youth in UP’s Bijlipura area in Shahjahanpur. In yet another case of crime against women, a 21-year-old woman accused her in-laws of gang-raping her several times after her husband passed away. The shocking case was reported from Dadri near Noida.
