Mysore Printers & publishers asked to follow election commission guidelines

Mysore, Mar 18 (KNN) Mysore Deputy Commissioner directed all the printers and publishers to strictly follow all the directions of election commission while printing pamphlets, folders, publicity materials, flex banners, and all publicity materials related to candidate of parliamentary election.

The printers or publishers who sell election material have to inform the Deputy Commissioner about the quantity and price of the publicity material by a particular buyer, said Abhiram G Shankar, Mysore Deputy Commissioner in a meeting with various industries associations.

Besides this, usage of plastic in publicity material is strictly prohibited, he added.

Election Commission of India issued certain guidelines on printing and publishing election-related materials, pamphlets and posters as per the provisions of 127-A of the Representation of people’s act, 1951.

According to the guidelines, Printers must print any election-pamphlet only after obtaining declaration in the Annexure A from the publisher. This declaration must be signed by the publisher and attested by two known persons of the publisher.

The printer must furnish to the district magistrate the declaration duly attested by the candidate and four copies of the printed material along with Annexure B within three days of printing of such material.

The district magistrate will scrutinize the Annexure A and B and the printed material.

Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of the model code of conduct of the elections is liable to be punished with imprisonment for a term, which may extend up to six months, or with fine, or with both, it added. (KNN/YV)
