Naib tehsildar held for raping girl on pretext of marriage in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh police have arrested 32-year-old naib tehsildar for repeatedly raping a 25-year-old dalit girl, who is also state public service commission (PSC) aspirant on pretext of marriage since 2015 in Bemetara district.


Bemetara district superintendent of police (SP) Divyang Patel told TOI on Thursday that the accused naib tehsildar identified as Yuvraj Sahu (32), who hails Supela village of Dhamtari district , was arrested for raping young dalit girl on pretext of marriage since 2015.



The rape survivor , hails from a village comes under Dadhi police station limits of the district.

On Tuesday, she lodged complaint that before 2015, she came to Bemetara for further studies and her preperations for state level PSC exams. While the accused was posted as Shikshakarmi in nearby Singhauri and Balsamund villages of the district before 2015.

In the year 2015, the rape survivor came in contact with the accused. They befriended and eventually, they entered into a relationship.

On the pretext of marriage, the accused sexually exploited the survivor multiple times.

Initially, the accused avoided her and gave excuses whenever she asked him about marriage. When the victim forcibly asked him for marriage, the accused refused.

Meanwhile, the accused naib tehsildar got engaged and later the rape survivor came to know about it.

On rape survivor’s complaint, Bemetara city kotwali police registered an offence against Yuvraj under Section 376,376 (2) (n) of IPC ans section 3 (2) (v) of scheduled castes and tribes (prevention of atrocities) act. And further probe into tbe matter was initiated.

Police arrested the accused naib tehsildar and presented him before the local court in Bemetara, from where he was sent to judicial remand.
