Narrow escape for man, wife after car overturns

THANE: A 57 year old man and his wife had a narrow escape, late Saturday, after their speeding car met with a mishap while trying to dodge a bike and overturned on the arterial Eastern Express Highway, civic rescue officials informed.

The accident took place at 10.25 pm on the service road leading towards teen Haath naka near Kopri when the couple was returning home in Majiwada.

“The man was driving the car while his wife was seated alongside and was on their way home when he lost control over the vehicle while trying to dodge a biker who had apparently crossed lanes, following which the car hit the divider and overturned. Luckily, the duo managed to come out of the vehicle unharmed while the car suffered severe damage,” informed Yasin Tadvi, in-charge at the regional disaster management cell, Thane.

The upturned car led to a minor congestion on the road and was cleared after it was later towed away by the police.
