Navratri 2019: Garba ramva jaiye re as rains to stay away

If you were worried about rains spoiling the rest of your Navratri, fret not. The weathermen have predicted that there will be no rainfall in Ahmedabad for next five days. Also, monsoon is likely to withdraw from the State after October 10, predicts India Meteorological Department and Skymet Weather. Jayanta Sarkar, regional director of IMD said, “We expect rain only in isolated places over the next five days.

The rain will be light to moderate as the cyclonic circulation has moved away.”

Mahesh Palawat, vice-president of Meteorological and Climate Change in Skymet Weather, said, “Weather will remain clear in Ahmedabad and Gujarat. The depression near Gujarat has moved towards Uttar Pradesh, thus nullifying the scope of rain. Navratri will not be spoilt. The day temperature is also likely to increase.”

On being asked about the withdrawal of monsoon from Gujarat, Palawat said, “The withdrawal of monsoon will commence from October 10. This is still not official as rains will withdraw from western side first. However, withdrawal can be expected any time after October 10.” Garba enthusiast Meera Patel said, “For most, Navratri started on Tuesday as the first two days got ruined due to rains. I hope venues extend garba for two more days so everyone can have fun. It is good to know that rain is not going to hinder celebrations anymore.”

City recorded maximum temperature of 33°C and minimum of 23.2°C on Wednesday with relative humidity of 67%.
