Nayagarh engineer held in DA case

BHUBANESWAR: Vigilance officials on Friday arrested Binay Kumar Subudhi, an executive engineer of the minor irrigation department in Nayagarh , for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known source of income. Of his total movable and immovable assets worth nearly Rs 2.58 crore, his disproportionate wealth is around Rs 1.98 crore.



During simultaneous raids at his houses at different places, office, native place and residence of a relative, the vigilance sleuths found huge assets owned by Subudhi and his family members. Subudhi's assets included a double-storey building (worth Rs 31 lakh) in Bhimatangi area of Bhubaneswar, three flats in Bhubaneswar and Puri worth over Rs 75 lakh, seven plots in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur worth nearly Rs 30 lakh, a car, deposits in different banks, investments in different insurance policies and mutual funds, gold ornaments weighing more than 2.5 kg and worth over Rs 62 lakh and cash around Rs 3 lakh.

In another case, the vigilance sleuths raided the house and office of Basanta Kumar Panda, executive engineer with the drainage division in Balasore on charges of accumulating ill-gotten assets.
