French automaker Citroen has unveiled the all-new all-electric eC3 (stylized e-C3) designed exclusively for the European market, and it's a far cry from the eC3 model available in India. This European iteration of the Citroen eC3 boasts a fresh design, a new platform, and a different powertrain, setting it apart as a unique offering in the EV segment.

European eC3:
A Fresh Face for Citroen The European Citroen eC3 greets onlookers with a distinct design, featuring a more angular front fascia compared to its Indian counterpart. The new Citroen logo takes centre stage, and the EV proudly displays C-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) within an enclosed grille adorned with black elements.

The side profile exudes a mature appeal, with less conspicuous plastic cladding and sportier dual-tone alloy wheels. The European eC3 stands apart with these design updates, offering a refreshing take on Citroen's popular hatchback.

Platform Distinction:
European eC3 Steps on 'Smart Car' Platform The European Citroen eC3 is underpinned by Stellantis' 'Smart Car' platform, a departure from the Indian eC3, which rests on the CC21 platform.

This platform distinction reflects Citroen's commitment to tailoring their vehicles for diverse regional markets, ensuring that European customers receive a vehicle designed to meet their unique needs and preferences.

European eC3:
A Powerhouse with Impressive Range Citroen's European eC3 is equipped with a 44 kWh battery pack, delivering an impressive range of up to 320 km (199 miles) based on the WLTP test cycle.

This long-range capability ensures that drivers can confidently undertake extended journeys without the worry of frequent charging stops. The eC3's 100 kW DC fast charging feature allows the battery to be recharged from 20% to 80% in just 26 minutes. The electric motor generates a maximum power output of 113 hp, providing a spirited driving experience.

Pricing Divide:
European eC3 vs. Indian eC3 The European Citroen eC3 comes with a price tag of €23,300, which translates to approximately Rs 20.52 lakh in Indian currency. In contrast, the India-spec Citroen eC3 is available starting from Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The significant pricing disparity underscores the unique features and enhancements present in the European variant. Citroen has also announced its plans to introduce a more affordable version of the eC3 by 2025, priced at €19,990 (INR 17.6 lakh) and offering a range of 200 km.

Aesthetics and Performance:
European eC3 vs. Indian eC3 The European Citroen eC3's fresh design, long-range capabilities, and premium features make it an attractive option for environmentally-conscious European consumers. However, the Indian eC3 holds its own, offering a cost-effective EV solution for a price-sensitive market. Ultimately, the preference between the two models comes down to individual priorities and budgets.
