Isuzu Launches Electric D-Max Pick-Up with 66.9 kWh Battery
Isuzu Unveils All-Electric D-Max Pick-Up: Rugged Meets Future!
Isuzu has officially taken the wraps off its all-electric D-Max pick-up truck at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, marking a major leap into the EV world. This follows the concept version's earlier appearance at the 2024 Bangkok Motor Show.
Production of the left-hand drive version, aimed at European markets, is already in motion, with deliveries expected by Q3 2025. The right-hand drive model will enter production later this year.
Power & Performance
Under the hood (or rather, under the floor), the D-Max EV packs a 66.9 kWh battery paired with an electric motor that delivers 188 hp and 325 Nm of torque. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds, with a top speed of 128 km/h. The EV boasts a WLTP-rated range of 263 km on a full charge.
Charging options include:
- 11 kW AC: Full charge in ~10 hours
- 50 kW DC fast charging: 20% to 80% in just 1 hour
- It also offers multi-level regenerative braking and selectable drive modes to tailor the driving experience.
Built Tough, Stays Smart
True to its workhorse roots, the D-Max EV doesn’t compromise on utility. It can haul up to 1,010 kg and tow up to 3,500 kg. Offered in Extended Cab and Double Cab body styles, the EV measures 5,280 mm long with a 3,125 mm wheelbase, standing 1,870 mm wide and 1,810 mm tall.
Isuzu has equipped the D-Max EV with e-axles on both ends for smooth and quiet acceleration. A new De-Dion rear suspension replaces the traditional leaf springs, promising improved ride comfort and handling—especially useful off the beaten path.
It also features:
- Full-time 4WD
- Rough Terrain Mode
- 210 mm ground clearance
- Water wading depth of 600 mm
- Approach/Departure angles of 30.5°/24.2°
Inside the Cabin
The interior largely mirrors the diesel-powered model but gains a tech boost. Highlights include:
- Digital instrument cluster
- Updated touchscreen infotainment
- Dual-zone climate control
- Heated seats
- Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
- Front & rear parking sensors
Isuzu’s D-Max EV blends rugged utility with electric innovation, aimed squarely at eco-conscious commercial users. With solid specs, real-world usability, and a strong brand name behind it, it could be a game-changer in the growing electric pick-up segment.
