Tata Motors has taken a bold leap in its electric journey by launching the much-anticipated Harrier EV at a starting price of ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Serving as the most premium model in Tata’s electric portfolio, the Harrier EV blends rugged SUV design with state-of-the-art electric vehicle technology. As interest in sustainable mobility continues to grow, this all-electric SUV is designed to deliver not only long range and power but also an extensive feature list that makes it a standout in India’s growing EV segment.

Designed to Make a Statement

While the electric Harrier retains the recognisable silhouette of its internal combustion counterpart, it incorporates a host of EV-specific design cues that distinguish it as a modern, clean-energy vehicle. At the front, a sleek closed-off grille gives it a futuristic look, supported by a pair of reprofiled bumpers that enhance aerodynamic efficiency. Aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels further improve range and style, while ‘EV’ badges at strategic spots highlight its eco-friendly credentials.

Tata is offering this model in four elegant shades: Pristine White, Empowered Oxide, Pure Grey, and Nainital Nocturne. These colours complement the SUV’s contemporary design language while offering a strong road presence.

Flexible Powertrain Options with Exceptional Range

The Harrier EV is based on Tata’s modular Acti.ev platform, offering both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations. It becomes the only Tata vehicle, across both electric and ICE lineups, to feature AWD functionality — a move that clearly places it in the premium SUV space.

Buyers can choose between two battery options: a 65 kWh pack powering a rear-mounted motor, and a larger 75 kWh battery paired with dual motors, one on each axle. The latter enables all-wheel-drive capability and significantly boosts performance. Power output in the top-end version reaches an impressive 396 hp with 504 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 6.3 seconds, giving the Harrier EV sporty credentials in addition to its SUV practicality.

Range anxiety is addressed effectively, with the flagship variant promising a claimed 627 km (MIDC) on a single charge — one of the highest among Indian electric SUVs.

Packed with Cutting-Edge Technology

Stepping inside the Harrier EV reveals a tech-laden cabin that rivals some premium international offerings. A segment-first 14.5-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard, offering rich visuals and sharp responsiveness. Paired with a 12.25-inch full-digital instrument display, the cabin feels every bit as modern as the exterior.

Connectivity and entertainment are prioritised through a JBL audio system with Dolby Atmos 5.1 surround sound. Dual-zone climate control, powered and ventilated front seats, an illuminated steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof ensure that comfort and luxury are delivered in equal measure.

The SUV also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging, allowing it to power other devices or even charge another EV — a practical feature for outdoor travellers or emergency use.

Industry-First Features for Everyday Convenience

Tata has packed the Harrier EV with an array of futuristic features to improve day-to-day usability. A standout addition is the 540-degree camera system, which not only offers a conventional 360-degree view but also allows drivers to see beneath the vehicle. This is especially useful when navigating rocky terrain or narrow urban streets.

Over-the-air (OTA) software updates keep the system current, while DrivePay integration offers seamless digital payments at EV charging stations, making charging as simple as scanning a QR code.

Safety and Drive Modes Tailored for Indian Roads

Safety has not been overlooked. The Harrier EV comes equipped with six airbags, a built-in dashcam, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. A 360-degree camera setup supports safer parking and manoeuvring.

For enthusiasts and explorers, the SUV offers four distinct drive modes and six terrain modes, making it suitable for a variety of road and off-road conditions across India’s diverse landscapes.

Bookings and Market Positioning

Bookings for the Tata Harrier EV open on 2 July 2025, positioning the SUV as a strong contender in India’s growing premium electric vehicle segment. With a compelling blend of power, luxury, and sustainability, it aims to attract buyers looking for more than just basic electric mobility — targeting those who want an electric SUV that doesn’t compromise on performance or features.

The Tata Harrier EV is a well-rounded, premium electric SUV that raises the bar for homegrown electric vehicles. With segment-first features like an AWD powertrain, Neo QLED infotainment, and 540-degree visibility, it represents a bold new direction for Tata Motors. Whether it’s long highway trips, city commutes, or off-road getaways, the Harrier EV seems more than ready to tackle it all — silently and sustainably.
