A Zomato delivery partner in Pune has won widespread admiration after going beyond his duty to deliver missing food items to a customer—despite living with partial paralysis—and then refusing to accept a tip for his additional effort.

The incident was shared on LinkedIn by Shripal Gandhi, a Pune-based entrepreneur. According to Gandhi, he had placed a lunch order consisting of a paneer tikka sandwich, chips, and cookies. However, when the delivery arrived, only the sandwich was included.

Upon contacting the delivery agent about the missing items, the rider initially suggested that Gandhi reach out to either the restaurant or Zomato customer care for a resolution.

Taking the suggestion, Gandhi then contacted the restaurant, which apologised and offered to send the missing items—but only if the delivery partner was willing to return and collect them. The restaurant also offered him Rs 20 as compensation for the extra trip.

Gandhi pointed out that the rider was under no obligation to make the return trip, as Zomato—not the restaurant—was his employer. Despite this, the delivery partner agreed to go back and personally delivered the missing chips and cookies.

“I want the customer to be happy. It’s my responsibility,” the delivery agent told Gandhi.

What moved Gandhi most was the delivery partner refusing to accept the Rs 20 compensation.

“God has given me so much. Why should I take money for a mistake someone else made?” the agent said.

In his post, Gandhi wrote that what truly touched him was the humanity and integrity the agent displayed.

“He didn’t see me as his customer, but he saw the value in doing what was right,” he noted.

During their brief interaction, the delivery partner opened up about his difficult journey. A former construction supervisor earning Rs 1.25 lakh per month, his life changed drastically after a car accident left the left side of his body partially paralysed, ending his professional career.

Despite this setback, he joined Zomato to support his family and has continued working with resilience and dignity.

“Sir, Zomato kept my family alive. I may be handicapped, but I’ve been given an opportunity. I will never let Zomato’s name be affected,” he said.

The delivery agent also shared that he is currently funding his daughter’s education, who is studying to become a dentist.

“God is with me. Why should I worry?” he added.

In his emotional LinkedIn post, Gandhi extended heartfelt appreciation to Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and the company for supporting people with disabilities.

“You might not realise it, but your decision to hire persons with disabilities is changing lives in the most profound way,” he wrote.

The post has since gone viral on LinkedIn, with users flooding the comment section with admiration for the delivery agent’s attitude.

One user said:
“Hats off to his Attitude and love for his mindset. Great message to all around.”

Another commented:
“People who have gratitude find joy in the ordinary, peace in the present, and value in everything. God bless him.”

A third user added:
“Some people are real inspiration.”
