The much-anticipated Dunki trailer has finally hit the screens, and it appears to have unveiled the pivotal fate of Vicky Kaushal's character. Amidst the buzz generated by the teaser, numerous social media speculations surfaced hinting at the possible demise of Vicky's character. While the teaser left things ambiguous, the trailer seems to confirm these theories.
Within the trailer, Shah Rukh 's character, Hardayal Singh Dhillon , introduces the ensemble cast, including Vicky's character Sukhi. He narrates Sukhi's intense desire to reach England, investing substantial time mastering the English language.
However, the plot takes a somber twist when Sukhi's aspirations of reaching England get shattered with a rejection notice, triggering an enraged response from Vicky's character. The trailer then swiftly transitions to a funeral scene where the absence of Vicky amidst the prominent cast, including Taapsee Pannu and Boman Irani, strongly suggests the demise of his character. Shah Rukh is portrayed delivering an emotionally charged monologue, signaling a significant shift in the film's trajectory from this point forward.
Vicky Kaushal had previously expressed his enthusiasm about the project in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, stating, “It’s a dream come true. Unko milna hi dream come true hota hai, unke saath kaam karna to socho kitna bada dream come true hai. (Just meeting him is a dream come true, so just imagine what a big dream it was to work with Shah Rukh). That too, in combination with Raju sir directing you."
Reflecting on his experience working alongside Shah Rukh, Vicky further added, “So I can’t talk about it in detail, but I can tell you this. I understood why he is the Badshah, after working with him. There’s no one like him)."
Dunki is anticipated to offer an immersive cinematic experience, promising to etch a profound impact on global audiences. Described as a blend of humor and heartfelt moments, the film aims to create enduring memories for families and loved ones.
Jointly presented by JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Rajkumar Hirani Films, Dunki is produced by Rajkumar Hirani and Gauri Khan. Penned by Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, and Kanika Dhillon, the film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 21st December 2023.
