Panchayat Makes History as First Web Series Featured at WAVES 2025
At the upcoming World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, scheduled from May 1 to May 4 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai, one of India’s most beloved web series, Panchayat, will receive a special tribute.
As part of the event’s third day, a session titled ‘Making of Panchayat: Grassroot Storytelling’ will bring together the show’s creators and cast members to celebrate its unique contribution to Indian digital storytelling. The discussion will delve into how the series has successfully redefined the portrayal of rural life on streaming platforms. Key cast members including Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, and Faisal Malik will be present at the session.
About Panchayat: Created by TVF, Panchayat is a widely acclaimed comedy-drama series set in the fictional village of Phulera, Uttar Pradesh. The narrative centers around Abhishek Tripathi, an engineering graduate played by Jitendra Kumar, who takes up a government job as the Gram Panchayat Secretary. The show artfully explores the nuances of rural administration, local politics, and interpersonal dynamics in village life.
In addition to Jitendra Kumar, the ensemble cast includes Neena Gupta as village head Manju Devi Dubey, Raghubir Yadav as her strategic husband Brij Bhushan Dubey, and Chandan Roy as the affable assistant Vikas. The series currently has three seasons, each praised for its authenticity and storytelling depth.
