Siddharth Anand Breaks Silence On Making Hrithik Roshan And Deepika Padukone Starrer 'Fighter' A Sequel
The film 'Fighter,' starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone and directed by Siddharth Anand , has garnered widespread acclaim from fans, critics and audiences alike. Demonstrating an impressive performance at the box office, the movie opened with a collection of Rs 22.50 crore and experienced a gradual increase in earnings compared to its release day. With a strong showing in its first three days, 'Fighter' achieved an estimated net collection of Rs 89.50 crore in India. The momentum continued on its fourth day, with early estimates indicating a net collection of around Rs 28.50 crore for all languages. As a result, the film's overall net collection in India now stands at Rs 118 crore, as reported by Sacnilk.com.
Siddharth Anand On 'Fighter' Sequel
In the midst of the film's success, director Siddharth Anand has shared insights into his aspirations for a sequel. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, he remarked, “Yeah, that audience will decide. Abhi dekhte hain abhi 3 hi din hue hain (We’ll see. It’s been just three days since the film release). I think audience ka pyaar (love) will decide what we will do, and we would love to make Fighter 2 a larger story. We have some great ideas that we want to put it down to”.
The filmmaker expressed his lack of enthusiasm for creating sequels, highlighting that he stands out as one of the few directors in the country who has not ventured into sequel-making thus far, and currently has no intentions to do so. He emphasized, “You start relying on the nostalgia and try to match that vo mujhe maza nahin …(that I don’t enjoy) that’s where my stagnation will happen. I feel that I may be wrong, but I want to just keep challenging myself.”
