March 31 is a crucial day for banking operations as it marks the financial year’s closing. While banks usually remain open for final transactions and account settlements, this year, the day coincides with Eid-ul-Fitr, a major holiday, leading to confusion about banking services.


Will Banks Be Open on March 31?


Despite Eid-ul-Fitr being observed on March 31, most banks across India will remain open. As per the Reserve Bank of India 's (RBI) holiday schedule, banks will be closed for Eid in most states except Himachal Pradesh and Mizoram. However, banking operations will continue nationwide to ensure the smooth closure of the financial year 2024-25.

Bank Holiday on April 1


On April 1, banks will remain open for annual account finalization. However, branches in Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, West Bengal, and Himachal Pradesh will observe a holiday.
