In a major update for ration card holders , the government has made it easier to complete e-KYC from any fair price shop (FPS) across the country. This new system is especially helpful for migrant workers, who previously had to return to their home districts for e-KYC. Additionally, beneficiaries can now link their mobile numbers to their ration cards at the same FPS.

e-KYC Now Mandatory Nationwide

The Additional Commissioner of Food and Logistics has issued instructions to district supply departments to ensure that 100% of ration card holders complete their e-KYC. To make this process easier, the central government has allowed beneficiaries to visit any fair price shop of their choice, regardless of location, to get their e-KYC done. This will significantly reduce the inconvenience faced by many, particularly migrant laborers who previously had to travel long distances.

Fair price shop owners have been directed to inform beneficiaries about this facility. The e-KYC process will be conducted free of charge with the help of an e-pass system, and biometric authentication will be used to verify the beneficiaries.

Additional Services Available

In addition to completing e-KYC, the option to link or update a mobile number with the ration card is now available at fair price shops. The head of the ration card can modify or add their phone number as needed. Moreover, any incorrect family relationships listed on the ration card can also be corrected during the e-KYC process. However, only the head of the household is authorized to make these amendments.

To avoid being removed from the ration card database and losing benefits, it's important for all beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC and keep their details up to date.
