To support individuals facing financial hardship, the government has introduced the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme . This scheme provides substantial financial assistance to eligible individuals, ensuring that financial challenges do not prevent them from having a wedding.

Understanding the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme :

Launched by the Uttar Pradesh government in October 2017, the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme is designed to provide financial aid for the marriages of eligible girls and women from impoverished, needy, and destitute families. This includes marriageable girls, as well as widows, abandoned, or divorced women.

Under the supervision of the District Magistrate, the District Social Welfare Officer organizes mass marriages for eligible individuals from all religions, communities, and social classes.

Financial Assistance: The government allocates Rs 51,000 per couple under this scheme. Of this amount:

Rs 10,000 is provided to the bride and groom in the form of household items and gifts.
Rs 6,000 is used to cover the expenses of the wedding ceremony itself.

Additionally, widows, abandoned, and divorced women from poor families in Uttar Pradesh are also eligible to benefit from this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme, the following criteria must be met:

  • The family should be classified as destitute, poor, and needy.
  • The family's maximum annual income should not exceed Rs 2,00,000.
