How To Easily Check Your EPFO Balance Using SMS, Missed Call, And Toll-Free Number
The Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) is a vital national savings scheme designed to help working individuals accumulate a substantial retirement corpus. Companies set up EPFO accounts for their salaried employees, with both the employee and the employer contributing equally to the fund. Here's how you can effortlessly check your EPF balance using SMS or a missed call.
Checking Your EPF Balance via SMS
EPFO provides a free SMS service for members registered on the UAN portal. Follow these steps to check your balance:
- Open the Messaging App: Open the SMS app on your phone.
- Compose a New Message: Type "EPFOHO UAN ENG", where "UAN" is your Universal Account Number and "ENG" is the language code for English.
- Send the Message: Send this message to 7738299899 from your registered mobile number.
Ensure that you send the SMS from the mobile number linked to your UAN. Messages from other numbers won't receive a response.
Checking Your EPF Balance via Missed Call
You can also check your EPF balance by giving a missed call. Here’s how:
- Dial the Number: Call 9966044425 from your registered mobile number.
- Receive Balance Information: After a few rings, the call will disconnect, and you’ll receive a text message with your EPF balance details.
Retrieving Your UAN
If you’ve forgotten your UAN, retrieving it is straightforward:
- Visit the Portal: Go to the EPFO unified portal at unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in.
- Select 'Know your UAN': Click on the ‘Know your UAN’ option on the main page.
- Enter Required Details: Provide your EPF account number and member ID.
- Authorization PIN: You will receive an authorization PIN on your registered mobile number. Enter this PIN to confirm.
- Receive UAN: Your UAN will be sent to your registered mobile number.
If your UAN is not yet activated, click on ‘Activate Your UAN’ on the same portal and follow the provided instructions.
These simple methods ensure you can always stay updated on your EPF balance, ensuring better financial planning and peace of mind.
