How to Easily Claim Your Provident Fund Advance Online: A Step-by-Step Guide

The Provident Fund (PF) Advance, also known as a partial withdrawal from EPF, is a facility provided by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) that allows employees to withdraw a portion of their EPF savings in case of emergencies. These can include medical treatment, marriage, education, home loan repayment, or financial distress like job loss or natural calamities.


The entire process can be completed online through the EPFO portal, making it fast, paperless, and hassle-free.

When Can You Claim PF Advance?

You can claim PF advance under the following emergencies:

  • Home loan repayment

Step-by-Step Guide to Claim PF Advance Online

  1. Visit the EPFO Member Portal
    Go to https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
  2. Login Using UAN and Password
    Enter your UAN, password, and captcha to log in.
  3. Go to Online Services → Claim (Form-31, 19, 10C & 10D)
    Click on “Online Services” in the top menu, then select “Claim.”
  4. Verify KYC Details
    Your Aadhaar, bank, and PAN details must be updated. If not, update them before proceeding.
  5. Enter the Last 4 Digits of Your Bank Account
    This is for verification before proceeding with the claim.
  6. Click on ‘Proceed for Online Claim’
  7. Select ‘PF Advance (Form-31)’ from the Drop-down
  8. Choose Reason for Advance
    Select the appropriate emergency reason (e.g., illness, natural calamity, marriage, etc.).
  9. Enter the Amount & Upload Supporting Documents (if required)
    Upload scanned documents only if the reason demands it (like medical bills).
  10. Submit the Claim
    After submitting, you will get an acknowledgment, and the request is forwarded for processing.

How Long Does It Take?

Once the claim is submitted, it usually takes 3 to 7 working days for the amount to be credited to your registered bank account, provided all details are correct.
