Eastern and Central India: Rains, Thunderstorms, and Hail Alert


  • East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha will continue to see scattered to widespread moderate rainfall, thunder, and lightning till May 2.
  • Hailstorms could strike parts of Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha on April 29.
  • Bihar and Odisha are on alert for heavy rain between April 29 and May 1.
  • The ongoing cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and north Bangladesh is driving much of this unstable weather in the region.

Northeast India: Heavy Showers and Gusty Winds


  • The Northeast is bracing for fairly widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds up to 60 kmph over the next five days.
  • States like Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh will be particularly affected by heavy downpours.
  • Guwahati has already seen rain, while East Sikkim reported fresh snowfall on April 28.

Southern States: Rainfall to Linger Longer


  • Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala are in for isolated to scattered rains and thunderstorms till May 5.
  • North interior Karnataka may witness thundersqualls from April 29 to May 2. Hailstorms are likely on April 30 and May 1.

  • Delhiites can expect partly cloudy skies and possible thundery developments on April 29.
  • Daytime temperatures will hover around 38-40°C, while nights will be cooler at 24-26°C.
  • Strong surface winds touching 30 kmph are expected on April 30 and May 1.
  • The Delhi Airport has warned of possible flight delays due to shifting wind patterns.

Heatwave Watch: North and West Sizzle


  • Heatwave conditions will continue in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, West Rajasthan, and Punjab till April 30.
  • Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Gujarat, and Marathwada will face hot and humid weather till May 1.
