The monsoon is stirring up mixed weather across India, with heavy rainfall expected in many states and a heatwave looming over others. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for thunderstorms, strong winds, and rising temperatures, painting a varied weather picture for the coming week.

Rain Watch: Showers Across the Northeast and Beyond

Northeastern states like Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive significant rainfall today, with weather systems intensifying in the region. The IMD has warned of potential disruptions due to heavy downpours.

Elsewhere, coastal regions can expect light rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds up to 8 June. The weather is also set to turn wet in parts of Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, where isolated very heavy rainfall is predicted.

Delhi Forecast: Dry Skies, Normal Temperatures

Delhiites will experience partly cloudy skies, but no rain is in the forecast. Temperatures are expected to hover between 38°C and 40°C for the maximum and 25°C to 27°C for the minimum.

While temperatures have dipped slightly below average recently, they’re likely to return to normal levels by 7 June, according to the IMD.

Heatwave Warnings: Odisha and Rajasthan on Alert

As monsoon activity picks up elsewhere, Odisha and western Rajasthan are gearing up for extreme heat. A heatwave is expected in Odisha today, while Rajasthan will experience scorching conditions from Saturday through Monday.

Hyderabad: Light Rains Bring Welcome Relief

After a mild mid-week, Hyderabad is in for light to moderate rain and cloudy skies over the next few days. The IMD has also sounded a yellow alert for thunderstorms and strong winds in the city today.

On 5 June, Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 35.6°C and a minimum of 24.6°C, with humidity levels dropping from 67% in the morning to 45% by evening - providing some respite from the typical pre-monsoon heat.

From heavy showers in the Northeast to searing heat in the West, India is experiencing weather in all its variety. Keep umbrellas and water bottles handy - this week has a bit of everything.
