  • Prominent candidates in this election phase include:

    • Hema Malini (Mathura), a Bollywood actress and two-time MP, contesting for a third term on a BJP ticket.
    • Arun Govil (Meerut), known for his role in the television series "Ramayana", also running under the BJP banner.
    • Rahul Gandhi (Wayanad), a current Congress MP, facing off against CPI's Annie Raja and BJP's Kerala president K Surendran.
    • Shashi Tharoor (Thiruvananthapuram)
    is contesting against Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
    In the backdrop of the ongoing elections, the first phase saw a substantial voter turnout, with Tripura leading at over 80% and Bihar registering the lowest at under 49%. Additionally, the ECI has mandated a repoll on April 22nd for the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency at 11 stations, following voided results due to electoral disruptions.
