NCERT Forms Expert Committee with Sudha Murthy And Shankar Mahadevan To Reframe Syllabus And Textbooks
The National Council of Educational Research and Training ( NCERT ) has established a fresh panel consisting of 19 prominent members. This panel's primary responsibility is to create and update the syllabus as well as textbooks for students in classes 3 to 12. Among these 19 members, notable figures such as Sudha Murthy and singer Shankar Mahadevan have been included in the new committee tasked with shaping the curriculum.
A senior official has granted authorization to a committee to develop textbooks and other materials for teaching and learning. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will subsequently publish these materials. This committee, led by Chairperson M. C. Pant, Chancellor of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), and Co-Chairperson Prof. Manjul Bhargava from Princeton University, has been established to oversee the rewriting of the National Syllabus and Teaching Learning Material Committee (NSTC).
Enclosed herewith is the notification pertaining to the establishment of the National Syllabus and Teaching Learning Material Committee (NSTC), inclusive of the roster of committee members as well as the designated Chairperson and Co-chairperson. This committee is constituted as a High-Powered Committee.
The prominent panel comprises Sudha Murthy, the Founder Chairman of Infosys, Bibek Debroy, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), Sanjeev Sanyal from EAC-PM, Chamu Krishna Shastry, an ideologue of RSS, and the musical virtuoso Shankar Mahadevan, alongside 14 other distinguished individuals.
As per an ANI report, the educational teachings and accompanying learning materials created and approved by NSTC will subsequently be released by NCERT.
The National Syllabus and Textbook Committee (NSTC) will receive support from specialized groups known as 'Curricular Area Groups' (CAGs). These groups will aid in the creation of textbooks and educational materials for each subject outlined in the syllabus. The committee will have the flexibility to engage additional experts for consultation, assistance, and advice whenever necessary. Adequate expertise and guidance will be provided to the committee to ensure they have all the necessary resources for their work.
