Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday will inaugurate the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express , marking a significant milestone for Uttar Pradesh as it introduces its second semi-high-speed train.
PM Modi is expected to launch the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat train from Gorakhpur at 3.40 pm. This mini version of a semi-high-speed train in Uttar Pradesh consists of eight coaches instead of the usual 16.
According to officials, the Vande Bharat Express will establish a crucial link between Lucknow and Gorakhpur, passing through Ayodhya. Operating six days a week, except for Saturdays, the train is expected to accommodate a little over 550 passengers, as reported by PTI.
Following its inauguration, the semi-high-speed train will commence its journey from Gorakhpur on Friday, making stops at Sahjanwa, Khalilabad, Basti, Babhnan, Mankapur, Ayodhya, and Barabanki, before reaching Lucknow Junction, as stated by officials.
The train will undergo maintenance and repairs at a newly established facility in Gorakhpur specifically on Saturdays.
The train has a capacity to accommodate approximately 556 passengers, comprising of seven chair cars and one executive-class coach. Bookings for the train, which will be operated by the North Eastern Railway, have already begun and are being accepted by the Indian Railways.
For the chair car, the base fare is set at Rs 724, while passengers opting for the executive class will be charged Rs 1,470 for the journey from Gorakhpur to Lucknow. The IRCTC will provide meals, snacks, and tea to the passengers during the journey.
Regular services for the train will commence from July 9, with the initial day's schedule including halts at Basti and Ayodhya. Passengers will have the option to book tickets from the counters at these stations as well. Additionally, the train will make an operational halt at the Mankapur level crossing.
