Still wondering how many times you can update your Aadhaar address or mobile number? You’re not alone. Surprisingly, many Indians remain unaware that they can make these changes without paying a fee — but only for a limited time. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended a special offer allowing users to update their Aadhaar details for free via the myAadhaar portal , valid only until 14 June 2025.

Why It's Important to Update Your Aadhaar

Your Aadhaar card is an essential ID document in India. It’s required for a range of services — enrolling children in school, opening bank accounts, receiving government subsidies, and more. Any outdated or incorrect information on your Aadhaar can lead to delays, denials, or confusion when availing these services.

That’s why UIDAI advises citizens to keep their Aadhaar details up to date, especially their address and mobile number. The update process is now simplified and temporarily free online through the official portal.

How Often Can You Change Your Mobile Number in Aadhaar?

Good news — UIDAI allows unlimited updates to the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar. So whether you've lost access to your old number, changed service providers, or switched to a new SIM, you can register the new number without restriction.

Do note: mobile number updates require biometric verification, which means you’ll have to visit your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Common Service Centre (CSC). No documents are needed, but your fingerprint or iris scan will be used for identity confirmation.

What About Address Updates?

Yes, you can also update your Aadhaar address multiple times. Whether you’ve moved cities, changed your permanent residence, or are staying temporarily elsewhere, you can reflect that change on your Aadhaar card.

However, you must upload valid proof of address (PoA). Accepted documents include:

  • Electricity bill
  • Water bill
  • Rent agreement
  • Bank passbook or statement
  • Passport
  • Voter ID card

Unlike mobile number updates, address updates can be done completely online from home using the UIDAI website or the myAadhaar portal.

Deadline Alert: 14 June 2025

In a relief to millions, UIDAI has extended the free update service until 14 June 2025. Until this date, users can update address, mobile number, email ID, and other personal information without incurring the usual fee.

Post-deadline, the standard charge of ₹50 per update request will apply again.

This free update window is a golden opportunity to fix any incorrect or outdated information on your Aadhaar. Whether you’ve moved or changed your mobile number, now is the time to make the updates.
