Vande Bharat Train Fares Set to Decrease: Here's What You Need to Know
According to reports, Indian Railways is considering a reduction in fares for select short-distance Vande Bharat trains that have been experiencing low occupancy. Railway officials have expressed their intention to attract more tourists by lowering the ticket prices for these particular trains.
An official familiar with the matter said, “Fares of Vande Bharat trains on the Indore-Bhopal, Bhopal-Jabalpur, Nagpur-Bilaspur routes and a few more are being reviewed and may be reduced for attracting more travellers. According to end of June data, the Bhopal-Indore Vande Bharat service recorded just 29 per cent occupancy whereas the return journey of Indore-Bhopal Vande Bharat Express had only 21 per cent occupancy. The journey between the two cities takes around three hours."
Vande Bharat Fares At Present
The fares for the Vande Bharat Express are subject to variation based on the train route, class of travel, and direction of travel. For passengers on the Indore-Bhopal route, a one-way ticket in the AC Chair car is priced at ₹950, whereas those opting for the Executive Chair car will pay ₹1,525.
The Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express offers two seating options: the Executive Chair car and the Chair Car. The fare for the Executive Chair car is ₹2,045, while the Chair Car costs ₹1,075.
Similarly, on the Bhopal-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express, there are two types of seating available: the AC Chair car and the Executive Chair car. The fare for an AC Chair car is ₹1,055, and the Executive Chair car costs ₹1,880.
In the return journey, the fares for these trains vary slightly. For instance, on the Indore-Bhopal Vande Bharat Express, the fare for an AC Chair car is ₹955, while the Executive Chair car costs ₹1,790.
To date, the Vande Bharat Express services have covered all rail-electrified states in India, totaling 24 states and Union territories. With a growing fleet, the Vande Bharat Express is renowned for its time-saving feature, which allows passengers to save an average of an hour compared to other trains.
