Asian Games Day 8 Schedule: India's Badminton Stars Aim For Gold, Athletes Shine Bright
On Day 8 of the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, the Indian men's badminton team is on the verge of making history. After an impressive victory over South Korea in the semi-finals, the team, which includes HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen , Kidambi Srikanth , and the duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, is now poised to compete for India 's first-ever gold medal in badminton at the Asian Games. They will face the host nation, China, in the men's team badminton final on Sunday.
India has never clinched a gold medal in badminton at the Asian Games, with PV Sindhu's silver in women's singles at the 2018 Jakarta Games being the country's best performance in the sport at the continental level.
In addition to badminton, there are other exciting events to look forward to on Day 8 of the Asian Games 2023. Two-time boxing world champion Nikhat Zareen is aiming to secure her place in the women's 50kg final. While she has already secured a medal for India, she is determined to go for gold.
Athletics also promises some thrilling competitions. Avinash Sable will compete in the men's 3000m steeplechase final, with Jyothi Yarraji participating in the women's hurdles finals. Tajinderpal Singh Toor will be a strong contender in the men's shot put, while Murali Sreeshanker and Jeswin Aldrin will represent India in the men's long jump.
On the golf course, Aditi Ashok and the Indian women's team are well-positioned to achieve a double victory for India.
