In a season-ending flourish, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole the spotlight as Rajasthan Royals signed off IPL 2025 with a commanding six-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.

The teenage prodigy dazzled with a fearless 57 off just 33 balls, showcasing maturity beyond his years. His 98-run partnership with captain Sanju Samson (41 off 31) laid the foundation for a successful chase of CSK’s 188, which RR achieved with 17 balls to spare.

Though the match had no bearing on the playoff race, it was a morale-boosting finale for Rajasthan, who wrapped up a forgettable season in ninth place with 8 points from 14 games. CSK, rooted to the bottom with 6 points and one match to go, now need a massive win to avoid the wooden spoon.

The playoff race now has just one open slot. Gujarat Titans (18 pts), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (17), and Punjab Kings (17) are through. The last spot hinges on a do-or-die clash between Mumbai Indians (14 pts) and Delhi Capitals (13) at Wankhede on Wednesday.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, CSK, and RR are officially out of the playoff picture. But for Royals fans, the emergence of young Vaibhav offers a glimmer of hope for seasons ahead.
