SRH Shine, LSG Crash Out as IPL 2025 Playoff Race Heats Up!
Sunrisers Hyderabad bounced back in style, crushing Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets at the Ekana Stadium on Monday. Chasing a stiff 206, SRH made it look easy, thanks to a fiery 20-ball 59 from Abhishek Sharma and a calm, calculated 47 off 28 from Heinrich Klaasen. The win gave Hyderabad their fourth victory of the season — a boost for pride, if not for playoff hopes.
For LSG, the loss was a heartbreaker. With just five wins in 12 games, their playoff dreams were officially dashed. Despite putting up a strong total, their bowling faltered when it mattered most.
The victory, however, didn’t budge SRH from the eighth spot on the table. With nine points from 12 matches, they remain outside the top four. Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings trail behind, both stuck at six points, separated only by net run rate.
At the top, Gujarat Titans are on cruise control. Their dominating win over Delhi Capitals on Sunday took them to 18 points and a solid NRR of +0.795, almost guaranteeing a top-two finish.
Their success has also locked in playoff spots for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (2nd, 17 points) and Punjab Kings (3rd, 17 points), both comfortably ahead in the standings.
Here’s a quick look at the updated IPL 2025 points table
With three spots sealed, only one playoff ticket remains. Mumbai Indians (4th, 14 points) and Delhi Capitals (5th, 13 points) are in a tight contest for the final berth. Defending champs Kolkata Knight Riders, currently sixth with 12 points, are out of the race — undone by results beyond their control.
As the league stage nears its end, the pressure is mounting — and the drama is far from over.
