RCB Edge CSK in a Thriller, Climb to Top of IPL 2025 Table!

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pulled off a nail-biting two-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a high-stakes IPL 2025 clash on Saturday. The narrow win not only electrified fans but also propelled RCB to the top of the points table.

Chasing a daunting 214-run target set by RCB, CSK fell agonizingly short, finishing at 211/5. The chase came alive with a sensational 114-run stand between 17-year-old sensation Ayush Mhatre and veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. However, RCB’s death-over specialist Yash Dayal held his nerve in the final over, sealing the win for his team.

This marks RCB’s eighth win in 11 matches, giving them 16 points and a net run rate of +0.482. With late-innings power from Romario Shepherd and ice-cool death bowling, RCB are emerging as serious title contenders.

Race to the Playoffs: Who’s In, Who’s Out?
Just behind RCB, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are locked on 14 points each. MI take second place thanks to a superior net run rate of +1.274, followed by GT at +0.867.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) continue their impressive campaign, sitting fourth with 13 points from 10 games. Delhi Capitals (DC) are in the mix too, in fifth with 12 points and a solid NRR of +0.362.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are hanging on in sixth with 10 points but a negative NRR of -0.325 means they need a strong finish.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) sit seventh with 9 points, helped slightly by a no-result earlier in the season.

Here’s a quick look at the updated IPL 2025 points table

The playoff picture is bleak for the bottom teams. Rajasthan Royals (RR) are officially out with only 6 points and a dismal NRR of -0.780. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have managed just three wins and are virtually done, carrying the worst NRR in the league at -1.192.

CSK’s hopes were mathematically dashed with their latest loss. They sit at the bottom with just 4 points and an NRR of -1.117 — a disappointing end to their season.

As the tournament heads into its final leg, the race for the playoffs is heating up, with just a few crucial matches left to separate the contenders from the also-rans.
