The 2023 Cricket World Cup is just around the corner, with 10 teams ready to battle it out for the coveted trophy. In the realm of batting, this ODI World Cup promises to showcase some of the world's most exceptional talents competing to outshine one another.

The likes of Virat Kohli , Rohit Sharma , Steve Smith , David Warner, Jos Buttler, Babar Azam , among others, are all geared up to make the most of the Indian conditions and lead their teams to glory.

Gautam Gambhir , a former Indian cricketer who tasted World Cup victory in 2011 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, has his eyes set on Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam to deliver something extraordinary this year.

In fact, Gambhir has high hopes for Babar Azam, suggesting that he could potentially score three or four centuries in the World Cup. It's worth noting that Rohit Sharma had an exceptional run in the 2019 edition of the ODI World Cup, notching up five centuries.

Gambhir stated, "The kind of ability he has. India is hosting the World Cup this time around. We are all aware of Rohit Sharma's outstanding record when playing on home soil. He has already scored three or four double-centuries. So, I am confident that he will be eagerly looking forward to the tournament and will be determined to make a significant impact for India," Gambhir expressed on Star Sports.

"The kind of technique Babar Azam has, I think he will score three or four centuries for Pakistan in this World Cup," Gambhir said.

Babar looked in fine form as Pakistan took on New Zealand in a World Cup warm-up match a few days ago. The Pakistan skipper scored 80 runs as his team put a 300-plus total on the board. The match, however, went in the favour of the Kiwis who chased down the target with 38 deliveries to spare.
In the subcontinent conditions, Pakistan does have a sense of familiarity. As far as the New Zealand clash is concerned, the conditions weren't much different from those in Pakistan. But, that might not be the case in the coming days.
