Rajasthan Government Declares Mission Olympics 2028 Scheme To Support Olympians

In a significant move, the Rajasthan state government has introduced the Mission Olympics 2028 initiative, aimed at providing steadfast support to deserving athletes aspiring for an Olympic berth.


Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, Diya Kumari, unveiled the scheme in the interim budget for 2024-25, demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering sporting talent within the state.

Empowering Young Athletes
The Mission Olympics 2028 initiative pledges to offer world-class sports facilities to 50 promising young athletes, enabling them to train rigorously and prepare for the prestigious Olympic Games. This initiative is set to revolutionise sports development in Rajasthan, providing a platform for budding athletes to realise their full potential on the global stage.


Establishment of Jaipur Centre of Excellence for Sports
In tandem with the initiative, the Rajasthan government has announced the establishment of a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence for Sports in Jaipur, with an allocation of Rs. 100 crore. This centre will serve as a hub for elite athletic training, equipping athletes with cutting-edge resources and facilities to enhance their competitive edge.

Endorsement from Sporting Icons
Esteemed sporting figures from Rajasthan, including shooter and Olympian Divyansh Singh Panwar and Arjuna Award-winning equestrian star Divyakriti Singh, have lauded the government's initiative. They expressed optimism about its potential to elevate the performance of athletes aiming for Olympic glory.


He said, “It is great news and I am hopeful that several sportspersons aiming for Olympics 2028 will get the best facilities to prepare for the marquee event. A move like this will definitely increase chances of athletes performing well in high-pressure events. Thanks to the government for bringing such a scheme,”

“This is for the first time that any state government has announced a scheme like this. Specifically focusing on an event will not only motivate the youngsters, but will also do a great deal of good to their confidence. I feel privileged to be born in Rajasthan. My focus is on the 2028 Games and I am currently training in Europe. The announcement has given me great hope,” he added.
