Rishabh Pant has received official fitness clearance from the BCCI. After enduring a rigorous 14-month rehabilitation and recovery journey, he is set to make his comeback to competitive cricket in IPL 2024, commencing on March 22. Pant encountered a car accident on December 30th, 2022, near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, resulting in severe injuries. Following surgeries in Mumbai, he commenced his recuperation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

“Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming IPL 2024,” stated the BCCI in an official announcement on Tuesday.

His last appearance for India was in December 2022 during the Bangladesh tour. The unfortunate accident caused him to miss several prestigious tournaments, including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, IPL 2023, ICC World Test Championship Final, Asia Cup 2023, and the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Recently, Pant shared snippets on social media from his rehabilitation sessions as he steadily progressed towards complete fitness. The 26-year-old will resume leadership duties for Delhi Capitals this season, taking over from David Warner , who led the team in his absence last year.

DC kicks off their IPL 2024 journey against Punjab Kings in Mohali on March 23.

Meanwhile, fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna have been sidelined for the season.

Shami underwent surgery for his right heel issue last month and is currently under the observation of the BCCI medical team. Representing Gujarat Titans, Shami has been absent from competitive cricket since the ODI World Cup final last year.

On the other hand, Krishna, recovering from surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon, is also under the monitoring of the BCCI medical team and will soon resume rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy.

Krishna's last appearance was for Karnataka in a 2024 Ranji Trophy group match against Gujarat, during which he sustained the injury. He represents Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
