Virat Kohli has found himself at the centre of an online storm after a video surfaced from the IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 , allegedly showing him making a dismissive remark about PBKS debutant Musheer Khan .

During the ninth over of Punjab Kings' innings, as Musheer Khan walked out to bat in his debut match, Kohli - positioned at first slip - was caught on camera saying, "Ye paani pilata hai." The phrase, interpreted by many as calling the youngster a “water-boy,” quickly sparked a social media backlash, with fans accusing the RCB star of disrespecting the 20-year-old.

Musheer had spent most of the season on the sidelines, carrying drinks for his team. His big break came in the high-stakes playoff, but it didn’t go to plan - he was dismissed for a three-ball duck by Suyash Sharma. The tough debut added to the sting of the alleged comment, as fans voiced disappointment online.

Interestingly, the gesture came weeks after a much warmer moment between the two. Following an earlier league match, Kohli had gifted Musheer a bat, which the young player shared on Instagram with the caption: "A million thanks for the bat, Virat Bhaiyya."

RCB Power Through to IPL 2025 Final

While the controversy brewed off-field, RCB delivered a ruthless performance on it. They crushed Punjab Kings by eight wickets at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium to book a spot in the IPL 2025 final - their first in nine years and fourth overall.

RCB’s bowlers dominated from the start, skittling Punjab for just 101 in 15 overs. Suyash Sharma and Josh Hazlewood led the charge with three wickets apiece. Chasing a small target, RCB wrapped up the win inside 10 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 56 from Phil Salt and a composed 15* from Rajat Patidar.

With momentum on their side, RCB now eyes their maiden IPL title - though the noise off the pitch may follow them into the final.
