Google Pay, or GPay as it’s better known, is a go-to app for millions in India when it comes to sending money, paying bills, or recharging mobiles—all thanks to the power of UPI. But beyond the basics, Google Pay is packed with smart features that can make managing your money even smoother. Here are five underrated tools that make GPay more than just a payment app.

1. Split Bills Without a Fuss

Forget those awkward “you owe me” conversations. GPay lets you split bills right inside the app. Whether it’s a dinner with friends or a weekend getaway, you can create a group, add people, and the app will keep track of who has paid and who hasn’t.

How to do it:

Go to New Payment > New Group, add the people involved, and enter the amount to split. GPay takes care of the math.

2. Win Rewards with Scratch Cards
Who doesn’t like a little cashback? Certain payments on GPay—like phone recharges or utility bills—unlock virtual scratch cards. These often come with cashback or discounts from partner brands.

Where to find them:

Head to the Rewards section in the app to see all your scratch cards in one place.

3. Autopay for Subscriptions
Never miss a renewal again. With GPay’s Autopay feature, you can set up recurring payments for subscriptions like Netflix, Spotify, YouTube Premium, and more. It’s automatic, secure, and one less thing to worry about.

To activate:

Tap your profile photo in the top-right corner and select Autopay to manage or set up subscriptions.

4. Check Your Bank Balance Instantly

Need to check your balance before sending money? You don’t have to open your bank’s app. GPay lets you view your bank balance instantly with just your UPI PIN.

Steps:

Go to Payment Methods > Your Bank Account > View Account Balance, enter your UPI PIN, and you're good to go.

5. Add Notes to Payments

Trying to track your expenses? GPay lets you add a note or even an emoji to each transaction. It’s a small touch, but super helpful when sorting through payments for budgeting or reimbursements later.

Tip:

Just type your note before sending money-it could be anything from “dinner ” to “freelance work”.

Google Pay is more powerful than it seems. From group bill splits to smart subscriptions and transaction notes, it’s built to make digital payments seamless and smart.
