Elon Musk's X Premium Users Set To Benefit From Govt ID Verification

XCorp has recently introduced government-ID-based verification checks for its premium users in an effort to combat impersonation on its platform and provide enhanced benefits to these users, including "prioritised support."

"ID Verification is currently available in numerous countries and will soon be extended to include more, such as the European Union , the European Economic Area ( EEA ), and the UK," according to the company.

For this identity verification initiative, XCorp has joined forces with Israel-based company Au10tix.

According to XCorp's website, the platform's primary focus is on account authentication to prevent impersonation. Additionally, the company may explore further measures in the future, such as ensuring users have access to age-appropriate content and protecting against spam and malicious accounts, all with the aim of maintaining the platform's integrity and fostering healthy conversations.

Users who opt for ID verification will enjoy various benefits associated with specific XCorp features. For instance, they will receive a prominently labelled ID verification in the pop-up that appears when clicking on their blue check mark. This ID verification label will also be visible to other users when they hover over the user's blue checkmark, leading to increased trust among peers.

Furthermore, users with ID verification will receive prioritised support from XCorp Services. The company plans to introduce more benefits in the future, streamlining the process of obtaining a blue check mark through a simplified review process. This will also grant users greater flexibility in making frequent changes to their profile photo, display name, or username (@handle).

It's worth noting that this option is presently exclusive to individual users and is not available to businesses or organisations. XCorp recently introduced a feature that allows paid users to hide their checkmarks from their profiles.
