Google Launches Air View+ to Tackle Hyperlocal Air Quality Monitoring in India
Google has unveiled Air View+, a groundbreaking ecosystem-based tool designed to provide hyperlocal air quality data to government authorities and citizens. This innovation is particularly timely, as air pollution levels in Delhi-NCR and other parts of India have reached dangerous thresholds.

According to Google, climate tech firms like Aurassure and Respirer Living Sciences have played a pivotal role in deploying air quality sensors across more than 150 Indian cities. These sensors are strategically installed in places such as utility poles, government buildings, and commercial areas. They measure pollutants like PM2.5, PM10, CO2, NO2, ozone, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) every minute, alongside environmental parameters like temperature and humidity.
Collaborative Validation and AI Integration
Google has ensured the accuracy of this sensor network through partnerships with leading research institutions, including IIT Delhi and IIT Hyderabad, as well as state pollution control boards and groups like CSTEP. The collected data undergoes analysis powered by Google AI, providing rapid and scalable insights for urban planning and climate action.

Air View+ integrates real-time air quality data into Google Maps, allowing users to access hyperlocal insights directly. This tool is also accessible to government agencies to enhance urban planning and monitor environmental conditions effectively.
How to Use Air View+ on Google Maps
Users can effortlessly check air quality through Google Maps by selecting the “Air Quality” layer in the Layer button on the home screen. Tapping any location on the map reveals detailed AQI insights. Additionally, users can view current air quality by selecting the weather widget in the Explore tab.
